Letter to the editor: Criticism of Obama well deserved
Criticism of President Obama isn’t racist, just well-deserved.
His signature accomplishment was a cleverly named tax that didn’t save Americans $2,500 a year as promised and didn’t allow everyone to keep their health care providers or even always retain preferred doctors. Worse yet, rather than maximize a historic chance to help struggling people of color, Obama’s only “hope” for noncelebrity blacks was that they remain obedient victims cowered into voting 9-to-1 Democratic.
It’s astonishing how the Democrat-subservient media’s favorite racist, President Trump, has made such progress in assisting marginalized minorities, when Obama didn’t.
The Opportunity Zone portion of Trump’s Tax Cuts and Jobs Act brought critical financial investments to some of the nation’s most distressed communities. Tony Rankins, a black war veteran who suffered PTSD and drug addiction, got clean and found carpentry work in a zone in Cincinnati. A guest at Trump’s State of the Union address, Rankins is one of many benefiting from the act.
And Trump — not Obama — signed a prison reform bill reducing recidivism and refining sentencing laws and harsh penalties. More than 91% of the inmates already freed by the act are black.
Trump also fiercely supports school choice that helps black children get the same educational opportunities afforded to Obama’s daughters. In his SOTU address, the president specifically cited Gov. Tom Wolf’s veto of Pennsylvania school choice legislation.
Finally, Trump’s deregulation and tax cut policies clearly contribute to the lowest black unemployment rate ever. Not a bad record for a racist, far better than his predecessor.
