The average person is not happy about prices, but this is not something you can blame on government policies. It goes back to our free market system that I learned about at Butler High School in the 1980s. Supply and demand control prices in our system.
During covid, supplies became low and demand was high, and prices went up. Even after the initial restrictions loosened, supply flow was slow, with backups in overseas shipping. Prices stayed higher.
Now that situation is mostly resolved but prices are still too high. Why? Do you think that if a company raises its prices that it will lower them to where they were before? A recent study shows that from April to September 2023, corporate profits drove 53% of inflation. Once prices go up they stay up unless another force affects them.
It is interesting to hear some talk about holding corporations responsible as “radical” and “communist.” What is truly radical and communist is having the government in our bedrooms, hospitals and doctors offices.
