Letter to the editor: Costs of climate change efforts

Tribune-Review

According to an article I read recently in the Wall Street Journal, climate lobbyists in media present weather emergencies (heat, cold, hurricanes, etc.) all as the result of climate change, yet the world has warmed by only 1.1 degrees Celsius since the late 19th century, according to the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Temperature shifts are far more likely due to normal variations in weather.

Europe has spent hundreds of billions of dollars to reduce its carbon dioxide emissions, which are now half of their 1990 level in emissions per dollar of GDP.

These reductions have come at the cost of less reliable energy and greater dependence on dictator Vladimir Putin, who is using that money to fund his war machine.
