Letter to the editor: 'Context' and book challenges
Regarding the editorial “Does Norwin director’s book challenge require more context?” (Jan. 18, TribLIVE): Talk about the liberal Trib calling the kettle black! They are attacking the messenger, not the message. Only conservatives require “context.” It’s quite OK for liberals to rewrite the meaning of words or history, even though the events of our past had different meanings, but context doesn’t matter in those cases. The context by which the tearing down of our statues or flags occurred is because those doing so failed history class in school or were not taught. The truth of our history requires no context. It is what it is.
But, I digress. Alex Detschelt was simply pointing out the concerns of parents who reached out to him. He is their voice. And might I add that your criticism of him and his prior usage of the word “retard” was taken way out of context. Liberals can’t justify their context without distorting facts, rewriting history or character assassination. Such as your editorial.
