Letter to the editor: Brentwood July 4 parade spectacular
Kudos to the Brentwood Fourth of July Committee for the spectacular parade on July 4. It truly consisted of something for everyone and a combination of fun (the Columbus Brothers’ and “Totally ’80s” floats) and more meaningful appearances (such as the vintage military vehicles and the personnel who marched). It was heartwarming to see the Himalayan marchers; we and our ancestors came to this country in search of freedom, so it is good to welcome our newest brothers and sisters.
Shame on the people who left during the finale, the fire truck cavalcade. Those brave, dedicated people spend so much time in training, work and practice. They risk their lives for no pay; the least we can do is acknowledge their presence with a cheerful wave. Maybe they would have preferred to relax and watch a parade themselves.
Thank you to all who worked on or participated in the parade. Wishing you many more years of spectacular celebrations.
