So a small part of NYC lost power from right after dinner to right before bed. Wall to wall, commercial free cable news coverage. It was such a catastrophe that Komrade Bill DeBlasio suspended his presidential campaign, aka the No Chance in Hell Express, and immediately got back home, later commending his fellow Noo Yawkas handling it “with that trademark NYC grit and toughness.” Uh-huh.
Grit and toughness for a three-hour outage. “But it was sooooooo hot!” Poor dears. If the life-threatening heat got to be too much for these plucky lads and lasses, they always could have employed the last-ditch, desperate maneuver of walking across the street or down a block or two to where they still had power and bask in the A/C.
Hey, Komrade, we lost power at my house four times just this week … you could look it up. And if you want grit and toughness, how about the freak windstorm this year, in the dead of winter, sub-freezing temperatures, that knocked out the power — and the heat — for 10 hours here, and for four or five days for some folks? That’s toughness.
Noo Yawk used to be the fuhgeddaboutit, we got this, town. Now, apparently it’s New York, the marshmallow capital of the country, where “surviving” for three hours without electricity in a small part of the city qualifies for the Silver Star.
