President-elect Joe Biden reaches out and asks for unity within government parties while Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a Washington Post writer and others suggested creating blacklists so supporters of President Trump are identified and prevented from “profiting” from their actions in support of the Trump administration. To me, that means preventing them from ever working in the public and private sectors. Is this really representative of America?
We’ve arrived at a time in American politics where, for half of the American voters, it seems like another dimension with negative consequences for all Americans has begun.
In regard to unity, let us not forget that President Obama perhaps perpetuated division regarding police with his comment that, while he did not know the specifics of the case regarding his Harvard professor friend Henry Louis Gates, the Cambridge, Mass., police “acted stupidly in arresting somebody when there was already proof that they were in their own home.” In one of his speeches, he declared that America was “no longer a Christian nation — at least, not just.”
Recall the nearly four years of Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff and Chuck Schumer’s relentless obsession with Russian collusion, which Robert Mueller’s investigation found no evidence of. Letter-writers continue to this day perpetuating the news media’s rhetoric while ignoring the possibly shady dealings surrounding Biden, Ukraine and China.
As Trump was called illegitimate, Biden will be saddled with that same description with all the irregularities of the presidential election.
