Letter to the editor: Biden vs. Trump on faith
Voters holding religious beliefs have been forewarned. We should consider falling to our knees in a prayerful position and listen carefully, as the Chosen One Trump (COT) has spoken.
We were awestruck when COT, in a Moses-like fashion, parted the peaceful protesters in Lafayette Square and led his nearly all white and male entourage to the steps of a nearby church, holding his well-worn holy Bible for all to see.
Forget that mounted, baton-wielding park police used tear gas to help with the parting and that COT’s book was upside down. Perhaps you thought, as I did, that COT would read a verse from Corinthians 2 to comfort us, while a choir of angels sang softly and a halo appeared above his head. Still, Cecil B. DeMille couldn’t have improved the staging.
Now COT warns us that former Vice President Joe Biden, a practicing Catholic, is “against God.” Ignore the fact that Biden has, on numerous occasions, acknowledged that his faith has sustained him in times of personal tragedy. COT, the omnipotent, has issued a warning. And he, who knows more than anyone about everything, is hinting that God is a Republican, thus Democrat Biden is against God.
Having contributed financially to Biden’s campaign and having written this letter, I pray that the Almighty will forgive me. But as of now, I’m willing to chance it and vote for Biden.
