I have always been a political independent. The only time I changed was in 2008 when I petitioned the county to change my registration to Democrat so I could vote against Hillary Rodham Clinton in the Taxsylvania presidential primary. Didn’t help … she won.
I contacted them about 10 days before the primary, got my card, voted, told them I wanted to switch back to independent and 10 days later got my new card.
But now, because of the intergalactic, mind-numbing, almost unfathomable, dangerous incompetence in every facet of existence of the person in the White House presently, I want to switch to Republican. It’s a big step for me. Obama could not get me to switch. Obama! But this guy …
Anyway, I applied on … Oct. 25 (!) and they acknowledged receipt of my request. On Dec. 6 (!) they said “your application has been approved. You will receive your card shortly.” It is now Jan. 15 (!) and I still do not have my new card. It’s a bit of paranoia on my part, I suppose, but I’m guessing that if I had petitioned them to switch to Democrat, Rich Fitzgerald would have hand- delivered my new card to me at my front door within 48 hours.
