Letter to the editor: Be an informed voter

Do your research on each candidate. Understand the bias in the media, including a study that showed from the day after President Biden relinquished his nomination to Aug 17, Vice President Kamala Harris’ media coverage was 84% positive vs. President Trump’s 89% negative by ABC, CBS and NBC.

Visit X online — at least you hear both sides in the responses, and Biden turned to X to announce that he is relinquishing his party’s nomination.

The Republican platform approved at their convention is 15 pages long and has a 20-bullet-point, forward-looking agenda for what they wish to accomplish. The Democratic platform approved at their convention is 900 pages long and mentions the word Trump 329 times. And, although Biden stepped down in July, the platform as approved at the convention mentions Biden’s second term 19 times.

Perhaps the coronation of Harris without a single Democratic voter voting for her to be the Democratic nominee for president was the reason for not updating this platform? Perhaps it is because Harris continues to put up trial balloons on new policies such as price controls for grocery stores or building 3 million houses while giving $25,000 to new home buyers (increasing supply and demand), or stealing Republican ideas on increasing child tax credits or eliminating tax on tips?

Is this her joyful hope — continuing to promise everything to everyone while being verbose enough to avoid accountability for anything by a “free” press that theoretically should be holding our government officials accountable?
