Letter to the editor: Are Trump and his followers weird?

Are Donald Trump and his followers WEIRD? Is it WEIRD to believe in a multiple adulterer, sexual assaulter, pathological liar, habitual swindler and charitable “giver” (Trump Foundation) whose only charity is himself?

Is it WEIRD for a prez wannabe to “dignify the office” by shilling low quality/high-priced Bibles and Air Elton Johns? Is it WEIRD that those wringing hands in despair over higher weekly grocery bills happily fund the legal fees of a self-proclaimed gazillionaire?

Is it WEIRD that Mr. Law and Order essentially summoned and dispatched a flak jacket, bear spray and club-bedecked mob to a “peaceful protest” of smashing heads and windows, defecating on floors, calling for the lynching of Mike Pence and Nancy Pelosi and causing the deaths of several and injury of many more?

Is it WEIRD that Mr. Support Our Troops mocked Sen. John McCain for the stupidity of being shot down, captured and tortured while his rich daddy was getting his rich son out of the same war? Is it WEIRD for his “base” to keep voting AGAINST the party that fights for Social Security and Disability support; affordable health care and housing; child care support; small farms support; workplace safety and a higher minimum wage; ridding air, groundwater, soil and food of the contaminants that cause cancer; and jobs-creating infrastructure rebuild — stuff critical for THEIR lives and livelihoods? And voting FOR the party always fighting against this stuff? Yes.
