Letter to the editor: Any remorse from Trump voters?
On Jan. 6, President Donald Trump incited domestic terrorists to lay deadly siege to the nation’s Capitol in an attempt to overturn the presidential election. It was truly one of our darkest moments.
Yet in the presidential election, some 74 million voted to give Trump another shot at destroying the nation. And after his January coup attempt, one wonders if any of those voters have regrets or show remorse for their actions.
It is bewildering to find Republicans unwilling to condemn Trump for his insurrection incitement and still willing to accept his “big lie” that the election was stolen. Amazingly, they would rather have millions of legally cast votes nullified in order to give this demagogue another term.
We can, however, expect nothing better from this party since it clearly has morphed into a bunch of conspiracy theory kooks and domestic terrorists who are more than willing to keep a pathological liar in power.
Surely we must recognize how dangerous the Republican Party has become, dominated by Trump, insurrectionists and society’s fringe elements, bent on destroying our democratic republic. For this, Trump must be punished and the Republican Party either purged of its seditious elements or cease to exist altogether.
