Letter to the editor: Anger, resentment as old as time

Tribune-Review

If you check most any news source, whether local, national or world, you will see a preponderance of it concerning factionalism, nationalism, partisanism, tribalism, separatism, angry divisiveness between political parties, religions, races, genders and niche identities. We choose our exclusive groups to bond with, then point the finger at outsiders to blame and ridicule.

It’s only been going on since the beginning of recorded history. The Bible declares “… and they shall fight everyone against his brother, and everyone against his neighbor, city against city, kingdom against kingdom.” The same dusty old tome that so many now consider fiction also predicts this divisiveness will grow worse in the end times.

So rather than just keep dragging it out, I suggest that the entire world population of 7.5 billion people meet at noon under the old Kaufmann’s clock for the final resolution to this age-old problem. Everyone can bring all their anger and resentment to settle things the way humans have always preferred, with violence and death, until the last person is standing. Then the final human will have all that he or she desires and no one left to blame … but himself or herself.

Or maybe just dust off that neglected good book and start following God’s word — before it’s too late.
