Letter to the editor: Abuse of power

In 1908 an investigative bureau of 34 special agents was formed that later became known as the FBI. At the time, Congress was leery of creating a “national police force.” Their concern was that the bureau would become a political tool for whomever was in office. It now appears those fears have come to fruition with the release of Twitter’s internal emails.

Conservatives not only had to deal with the FBI working at the bequest of the Biden administration, but they now had Facebook and Twitter working to suppress news that revealed anything negative about Joe Biden.

Emails revealed there were requests from the Biden campaign days before the 2020 election asking Twitter to remove certain tweets they found to be negative toward Biden, to which a Twitter employee replied, “Handled these.”

Prior to the election, the New York Post ran a story garnered from Hunter Biden’s laptop. Emails tied then Vice President Biden and his son to Ukrainian gas company Burisma. One email was from an advisor to Burisma thanking Hunter for the opportunity to meet with his father, thus shooting down Biden’s claim of never having knowledge of his son’s overseas business. Twitter killed the story.

An FBI official briefed Facebook right before the election; that led to information on the laptop being suppressed. The FBI declared it “Russian disinformation.” That was later debunked.

There are many out there who will have no problem with this abuse of power, nor will they condemn these actions. I guess it all depends on which end of the rifle you’re standing.
