Regarding Al Duerig’s letter “Abortion least of evils?” (Dec. 22, TribLIVE): I think he has letter-writer John Watson (“Wolf's veto of abortion ban,” Dec. 9, TribLIVE) pegged all wrong. I don’t believe Watson thinks of himself as a prophet from God, only a good Christian trying to convince people abortion is not a moral option in most cases.
I do not believe it is moral as a method of birth control; however, in some extreme cases, I understand why a woman may want one. It is not for me to say; that is between whoever chooses that option and our Creator.
I will say that, in my opinion, the decline in the value of life directly corresponds with abortion on demand. We have taught multiple generations that when life is inconvenient to you, it’s OK to snuff out life due to a poor decision in your life. Who are we to decide who lives and dies? That comes from someone higher than us. Who are we to decide who is a burden on society, as Duerig writes. Seems as though he thinks he himself is not a only a prophet, but God himself.
