Letter to the editor: 11 million illegal immigrants

Tribune-Review

For over a decade the accepted number of illegal immigrants living within our borders has been 11 million. This has been repeated by the liberal media and picked up and parroted by politicians and taken as gospel by those who can’t substantiate that on their own. We are told that the total number of illegal immigrants living in this country has not increased in over 10 years in spite of the porosity of our southern border over that period.

A 2019 World Population Review revealed that only seven states out of 50 have a population over 11 million people. That’s right! If there were only 11 million illegal immigrants in our country, they could fill a state larger than 43 of our states.

In 2018, a study at Yale found that “there are between 16 million and 30 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. — as much as three times more than most demographers figure.”

A 2005 report by analysts at Bear Stearns concluded there were 20 million illegal immigrants in our country, far outpacing the more accepted figure at the time of about 12 million. They used data more valid than sole reliance on Census Bureau surveys. It included remittances, school enrollments, housing statistics in immigrant enclaves and Border Patrol apprehension data.

Today, President Biden will tell you that it’s only 11 million illegal immigrants that he wants to grant access to citizenship, but don’t let him fool you.
