Letter to the editor: 10 reasons to vote out Trump
10. Refusing to release his tax records — suspicious for hiding conflicts of interest (like tax evasion, questionable foreign activity).
9. Promoting unproven, possibly toxic solutions during pandemic — like hydroxychloroquine and “injection” of “disinfectant” to treat covid-19.
8. Ignoring proven pandemic mitigation strategies — going maskless; holding large, in-person rallies.
7. Treating his opinions like facts — Twitter marked as “unsubstantiated” his May 26 tweet, labeling mail-in ballots “substantially fraudulent.” FBI denies evidence of such fraud.
6. Inciting violence — Twitter put a “glorifying violence” warning on Trump’s May 29 tweet: “when the looting starts, the shooting starts.”
5. Inflammatory speech — his habitual derogatory rhetoric demeans citizens, modeling division, not cooperation.
4. Character — self-interested, dishonest, impulsive, callous, uncompromising — these qualities are not effective in leading democracy.
3. Inability to maintain long-term working relationships — foreign and domestic, undermines national security.
2. Presidential emergency action documents — suspending habeas corpus, instituting martial law, censoring news reports — should not be entrusted to an egomaniac.
1. Disregard for American democracy, constitutional freedom and law — encouraging followers to vote twice (commit fraud); writing executive orders on May 28 to cripple social media fact-check warnings on posts and Sept. 22 to stymie research and education on roots of social inequality.
