Disney cafe shut down over mouse sighting
Well, it’s the House of Mouse for a reason, right?
A Disney-themed cafe inside a new clothing store in Birmingham, U.K., was temporarily shut down for — of all things — a mouse sighting.
Of course, this wasn’t Mickey.
Two customers, according to ITV.com, witnessed an actual rodent scurrying across the floor.
The BBC News reports environmental health officers were called to the Primark store last week to address the rodent issue in one of the three Disney restaurants in the five-floor megastore.
“Following a reported sighting of a mouse, pest control were called to the store and a deep clean was carried out,” a Primark spokesman told the BBC News. “At no point did this issue affect the kitchen or food preparation areas. Environmental health officers immediately conducted an inspection of the cafe and awarded it the highest possible rating (5 stars) for food safety.”
The spokesperson added that additional measures have been added to make sure the issue doesn’t resurface.
“On our inspection, no evidence of a problem was found and we were more than satisfied with the response from the company in dealing with the complaint,” said Nick Lowe, food-safety operations manager for the Birmingham City Council.
The cafe, whose entrance is a headband with Mickey ears, serves up mouse-shaped pancakes, smoothies, and other kid-friendly dishes.
