Carnival cruise ship plows into another in Cozumel
Two Carnival cruise ships collided Friday morning while at a port in Cozumel, Mexico, according to a CNN report.
One passenger was injured, while six others were reported to have minor injuries.
The ships involved were the Carnival Glory and Carnival Legend.
CNN reported that Carnival described the wreck as “an allision” between the two ships. An allision, CNN described, is a nautical term used to describe when a moving ship collides with a stationary object, such as another ship.
The Carnival Glory was preparing to dock when it struck the Carnival Legend, which had already docked, Carnival confirmed to CNN.

Carnival Legend passenger Mary Ann McKinley told CNN that the crash “wasn’t too bad,” and that it “just felt like a big wave crashing into the ship.”
The seaworthiness of both ships had yet to be determined, and Carnival told its guests to enjoy the day ashore.
There appears to be a discrepancy about the cause of the crash.
A passenger on Carnival Glory told CNN that an onboard announcement said the crash was due to high winds, while McKinley said the announcement onboard the Carnival Legend said currents were the culprit.
It wasn’t immediately clear what the next steps of the cruise line would be.
