Buffalo, N.Y.-area police department brings levity to serious work
There aren’t many professions of more serious consequence than policework.
Officers put their lives on the line for the communities they serve, and the way they do their jobs can make all the difference in the world for the quality of life of residents.
That seriousness is usually reflected in the way departments communicate with the public. Even if departments utilize modern tools such as social media, the messages are almost always predictably sterile — accident reports, calls for help finding robbery suspects and the like.
The West Seneca Police Department, a 66-officer outfit covering a community of more than 45,000 in the Buffalo, N.Y., suburbs, does those things, too. Only the WSPD does its duty with a certain… flair.

It’s all there, traffic reports included. The messages are as important as you’d expect. The presentation is something more.
Roads, particularly overpasses, are very icy this morning. Take a little extra time and slow down so you don't end up swiping your lifted f350 with custom exhaust and Calvin decal into a guardrail.

Cal Ripken started 2,632 consecutive games, DiMaggio had a 56 game hit streak, and we went 8 days w/out a theft from a vehicle. It was a good run but several thefts were reported this morning w/ a vehicle being stolen. Lock your doors and don't leave valuables (or keys!) inside. pic.twitter.com/CU4Gp0xxSA
