Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., and Rep. Val Demings, D-Fla., participate Saturday in a news conference at the Capitol in Washington to discuss the impeachment trial of President Trump on charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.

President Donald Trump lashed out at Rep. Adam Schiff in a series of tweets on Sunday, saying the California Democrat has “not paid the price, yet” for his role in the impeachment process, a statement Schiff said he viewed as a threat.

“Shifty Adam Schiff is a CORRUPT POLITICIAN, and probably a very sick man,” Trump tweeted. “He has not paid the price, yet, for what he has done to our Country!”

Schiff, the lead House impeachment manager in the Senate trial, said Trump is a “vindictive” president.

“I don’t think there’s any doubt about it, and if you think there is, look at the president’s tweets about me today saying that I should ‘pay a price,’” Schiff said on Meet the Press.

The attacks from Trump against Schiff and other Democrats followed three days of their arguments in his impeachment trial before the Senate on charges he abused the power of his office by pressuring Ukraine to investigate a political rival, and then tried to obstruct an investigation by Congress.

Schiff said he was making the argument “that it’s going to require moral courage to stand up to this president.”

“This is a wrathful and vindictive president,” he said.
