Dave Chappelle endorses Andrew Yang, will perform 2 shows to benefit campaign
Comedian Dave Chappelle announced Tuesday his endorsement of Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang.
According to CNN, Yang expressed excitement for Chappelle’s endorsement and explained that they share similar views.
“Dave is one of the most important voices in our country today and I’m thrilled he has thrown his support behind this campaign,” Yang said in a statement obtained by CNN. “He and I share similar concerns about the future and hopes for what it could be. We are also parents who see the world that we are leaving to our kids and believe they deserve better.”

In an earlier statement to The Hill, Yang said: “I’m gonna make a very special announcement. I’m going to be endorsed in two hours by Dave Chappelle. And not just endorsed, Dave is going to be headlining a couple of shows to benefit the campaign in South Carolina on January 29th and January 30th. So, super indebted to Dave and can’t wait to help make this case for the country that we can do better for ourselves and our kids than we’re doing right now.”
Chappelle’s endorsement comes several weeks after rapper/actor/singer/comedian Donald Glover, who is also known as Childish Gambino, endorsed Yang and subsequently joined his campaign as a creative consultant.
