Sex offender Bonnie Rohn got a break when she was sentenced last year to Northampton County Prison rather than state prison, according to prosecutors.

But after violating parole by getting kicked out of sex offender treatment, the 37-year-old Hellertown woman is now headed to state prison.

Northampton County Judge Anthony Beltrami on Wednesday revoked his previous one- to two-year county prison sentence and switched it to a one- to two-year state prison sentence, according to Assistant District Attorney Laura Majewski.

Rohn admitted she had sex with a 15-year-old boy in her home from January through September 2017. She pleaded guilty to statutory sexual assault.

Former District Attorney John Morganelli said she initially got county prison rather than state prison because she’s a woman and the victim is male. Majewski agrees. Morganelli is now a judge.

Majewski said Rohn was kicked out of sex offender treatment because she failed two polygraphs when asked whether she had sex with other minors. She tried to access children while on parole and had sex with a corrections officer, Majewski said.

Rohn claims she had sex with the corrections officer after she was released, Majewski said.

Rohn’s attorney Erv McLain couldn’t be reached for comment.

At a hearing Wednesday on her parole violation, Beltrami determined Rohn isn’t amenable to sex offender treatment in the community and needs to receive it in state prison, according to Majewski.

Rohn will serve eight years of probation after her prison time or parole expires.

Majewski said Rohn was released after serving a year in county prison. She enrolled in sex offender treatment in February and was kicked out of the program by Nov. 9, Majewski said.
