Tyson Foods recalls Weaver frozen chicken breast patties dated for use by Jan. 31, 2020.

Tyson Foods has recalled 39,000 pounds of Weaver brand chicken breast patties with rib meat after reports of pieces of a mechanical seal or gasket being found in the product.

The reports were limited and did not include any resulting injuries or illness, the company said, but it indicated it is recalling the product out of an abundance of caution.

The recall includes 26-ounce bags of the frozen patties that were produced in January and are marked “best if used” by Jan. 31, 2020. The bags also bear the plant code P-13456.

The product was sent to distribution centers in Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, Virginia, Missouri, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont and Texas, according to Tyson.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service advised consumers not to use the product and to throw it away or return it to the place of purchase.

People with questions about the recall can call or text Tyson Foods’ consumer relations hotline at 855-382-3101.

A toll-free USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline can be reached from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern Time on weekdays at 1-888-674-6854. Recorded food safety messages are available 24 hours a day.
