Report: Pa. priest carjacked while unloading wheelchair
A priest and his passenger were carjacked in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia on Sunday, according to a story from CBS Philadelphia.
The incident happened along the 2100 block East Somerset Street at around 8:45 p.m., the news station reported.
According to police, four men approached the priest while he was unloading a wheelchair from the trunk of a blue 2013 Hyundai Sonata. One of the men then pulled out a firearm.
Another of the four men then took a person seated in the vehicle’s passenger seat out of the vehicle, police said. The other three got into the vehicle and fled southbound on Frankford Avenue toward Leigh Avenue.
Neither the priest nor the passenger were injured, the site reported.
The priest is a member of the Arrupe Jesuit Community, which provides services to the homeless and also owns the vehicle.
The investigation is ongoing, CBS Philadelphia said.
