Amity Packing Company recalled 1-pound packages of Pre Brands 95% lean ground beef produced on Jan. 6, 2020, because of possible contamination with plastic.

Amity Packing Company has recalled 2,020 pounds of raw ground beef that may be contaminated with plastic.

Labeled for Pre Brands, the 1-pound, vacuum-packed packages of 95% lean ground beef were produced on Jan. 6 by the Chicago-based company and were distributed to retailers in nine states including Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York and New Jersey.

The packages are dated for use by Jan. 30 and are marked with lot code 0060, case code 11402 and establishment number EST 6916.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, Pre Brands received two complaints of consumers finding clear, thin pliable plastic in the beef. There have been no reports of adverse reactions from eating the beef.

Consumers are advised to discard the beef or return it to the place of purchase.

Questions about the recall can be directed to Pre Brands at 1-844-773-3663.
