Perdue Foods is recalling more than 16,000 pounds of chicken nuggets because the label doesn’t indicate the product contains milk ingredients, an allergen for some consumers.

The recall is in effect for 12-ounce packages of refrigerated, ready-to-eat Perdue Fun Shapes Chicken Breast Nuggets that are dated for use by March 11, 2019, and have lot codes ranging from 17009010 to 19009010.

The nuggets were made on Jan. 10 and were shipped to stores in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland, Washington, D.C., Virginia and eight other Mid-Atlantic and New England states. The packages bear establishment number P-369 inside the federal inspection mark.

A retail store alerted the Virginia-based company, which discovered that an incorrect back label was applied to the packages, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said Monday.

There were no reports of adverse reactions from eating the nuggets, officials said. They advised affected consumers to discard the product or return it to the place of purchase.

Those with questions about the recall may contact Perdue Consumer Care at 1-866-866-3703.
