Pennsylvania reports 691 new coronavirus cases, no new deaths

Pennsylvania reported 691 new coronavirus cases, but no new deaths on Sunday.

The new data brings the total number of cases to 139,316.

The state Department of Health said that 158,994 tests were administered the last 7 days between Aug. 30 and Saturday with 5,791 positive cases. There were 19,065 test results reported to the department through Saturday.

The total number of covid-19 deaths in Pennsylvania stands at 7,760.

The state reported 18 deaths Saturday attributed to the coronavirus after posting 10 on Friday. Thursday’s total of 20 deaths was the highest of the week. No new deaths were reported Monday.

Nearly 1.6 million people in the state have tested negative for the virus; in total 1.73 million have been tested for the virus in the state.

The overall positivity rate is 8%.

As of Sunday, 82% of people who tested positive have recovered from the virus, according to the state covid-19 dashboard.

The state dashboard shows that there are 490 people currently hospitalized with 64 on ventilators.

According to the state, there are 21,405 resident cases of covid-19 in nursing and personal care homes, and 4,603 cases among employees, for a total of 26,008 at 947 distinct facilities.

Out of the total number of deaths, 5,239 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities.

Approximately 9,883 of total cases in the state are among health care workers.

The Department of Health advises that if people have or think they have covid-19, they should stay home and keep away from others.
