The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported 654 new positive cases of covid-19 and five new deaths on Sunday.

The new cases bring the state’s total to 113,590, with all 67 counties having reported cases, and 7,209 deaths.

This the fifth day of cases under 1,000 in the state and its lowest day of cases in nearly two weeks.

Allegheny County reported an increase of 82 cases and Philadelphia County saw 75 new cases.

In Southwestern Pennsylvania, Allegheny’s new cases raised its total to 8,242. Here’s a look at the total positive cases (as of Sunday) for neighboring counties and the growth from Saturday:

  • Armstrong 187 (+3)
  • Beaver 1,232 (+13)
  • Butler 602 (+2)
  • Fayette 408 (+5)
  • Indiana 272 (+7)
  • Somerset 124 (no change)
  • Washington 756 (+9)
  • Westmoreland 1,438 (+16)

The state reported that it is seeing significant increases in the number of covid-19 cases among younger age groups, particularly 19 to 24-year-olds. That group makes up the largest age group of cases with over 18,000 cases.

But most of the patients who are hospitalized are ages 65 or older. As is the case of the the people who have died from the virus.
