Lake-effect snow could bring up to 7 inches to northwest Pennsylvania
A portion of northwest Pennsylvania could get its first taste of winter in the form of lake-effect snow.
National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Erie and Crawford counties from 4 p.m. Thursday to 4 p.m. Friday.
A cold front moving through the state is expected to bring rain that will eventually change to snow into the afternoon.

“Winds will shift around to the northwest and over Lake Erie, presenting a favorable lake effect snow setup for the higher elevations of northwest Pennsylvania,” the weather agency wrote in the advisory. “Given the flow over the region, some added help from Lake Huron will assist the setup.”
The best chance for snow in the region will be overnight, and snowfall could reach a rate of one inch per hour. Anywhere from 4 to 7 inches of snow could fall in the advisory area.

Counties to the south could also see 2 to 3 inches of snow.
