Hersheypark's tallest, fastest coaster, Candymonium, coming in 2020
Another marquee roller coaster is coming to Pennsylvania.
Following on the heels of the opening of Kennywood’s Steel Curtain roller coaster this month, Hersheypark announced Wednesday that Candymonium is coming next summer.
Billed as the “World’s Sweetest Coaster,” Candymonium will open in summer 2020 as part of Hershey’s new Chocolatetown area, which is getting a $150 million expansion, according to the park.
Candymonium will feature a lift height of 210 feet, hit a top speed of 76 mph and have track length of 4,636 feet, making it the park’s tallest, fastest and longest coaster. The ride will last 2 minutes, 26 seconds and end with a wrap around a new Kisses Fountain.
The park said Candymonium and another coaster, Skyrush, will cross paths, creating a moment they are naming Candyrush.
The roller coaster will be the park’s 15th.
The new Chocolatetown area will feature a large themed restaurant with a bar and patio, which will be open year round, an ice cream parlor and other dining and shopping options.
