621 new coronavirus cases, 24 deaths reported in Pa.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health on Saturday reported 621 new coronavirus cases and 24 new deaths.
That bring the statewide total to 84,991 cases and 6,603 deaths.
The state considers 633 patients as probable cases, but they are not confirmed.
More than half of coronavirus cases in the state are in patients ages 50 or older, with the most severe cases in patients over the age of 65, according to the Department of Health.
Nursing and personal care homes account for 17,622 cases, with 3,193 cases among employees. In all, there are 20,815 cases in 684 facilities across 51 counties. Out of the total deaths, 4,528 have occurred in residents at nursing or personal care facilities.
Health care workers account for 6,446 coronavirus cases.
About 646,780 patients have tested negative for covid-19.
The numbers follow the state’s largest single-day increase since June 12. On Friday, 600 new cases and 22 new deaths were reported.
All of Pennsylvania’s 67 counties have had confirmed cases and all are now in either the yellow or green phase of Gov. Tom Wolf’s three-tiered reopening plan.
