Woman dies in Carrick house fire
A 72-year-old woman rescued from a house fire late Saturday night in Carrick has died, police said.
Officials said Pittsburgh city fire crews responded to a residential structure fire in the 100 block of Minooka Street, where a 72-year-old woman was found on the first floor of the home.
Medics attempted life-saving measures and transported her to the hospital, where she was initially listed in grave condition with severe burns and smoke inhalation.
The unidentified woman later died from her injuries, police said.
Investigators determined the fire originated in the victim’s bed on the first-floor living room.
Police said the fire appears to be accidental, but the exact cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
