A Homestead woman illegally sold oxycodone pills that caused a Pittsburgh man to fatally overdose in 2022 with fentanyl levels in his blood that were gauged as double a lethal dose, authorities say.

Sharon Holt, 51, was arrested by Pittsburgh police Thursday on charges including drug delivery resulting in death, drug possession and recklessly endangering another person.

Police were dispatched to a Carrick home at 5:46 p.m. on May 11, 2022 and found a 41-year-old man unresponsive, a criminal complaint said. He allegedly had snorted two crushed oxycodone pills.

The man’s wife told police that the victim bought three oxycodone pills from a friend for $150, the complaint said. The third pill, which police confiscated, later tested positive for fentanyl.

The man’s cause of death was a combined drug poisoning of fentanyl and oxycodone, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner said. The level of fentanyl in blood from the man’s heart was twice the lethal level.

A friend of the victim, who met with Pittsburgh police in 2023, said Holt sold her the oxycodone pills that ultimately killed the man. The deal went down in front of a Walgreens in Homestead.

No arrest records were found in court records on Friday for the friend who bought the drugs. Thursday’s arrest was the only record of criminal charges against Holt.

Police filed charges against Holt on April 1 and arrested her Thursday, court records show.

Pittsburgh police didn’t respond to emails asking what caused the delay in the arrest, or why charges were being filed this week in connection with a 2022 incident.

Holt, whose attorney was not listed in court records, was arraigned at 1 a.m. Friday, court records show. She is being held on $25,000 bail at Allegheny County Jail.

Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 25.
