The Westmoreland Museum of American Art in Greensburg will host a variety of free activities on Aug. 13.

On Saturday, visitors to The Westmoreland Museum of American Art in Greensburg can browse a pop-up shop, grab a bite to eat, hear live music and finish the late-summer fun day with a free movie.

Three small business owners will be selling their wares from 3-8 p.m., including:

• A new collection of jewelry and leather handbags for both men and women, from Florence Smith of DJOI Designs in Pittsburgh

• Make-you-own arrangements or bouquets from a selection of fresh flowers, from Jayne and Claire Oberdorf of A Copper Petal in Greensburg

• Healthy, organic pet treats, from Lauren Davis of Puppuccino Boutique in Pittsburgh.

From 3-9 p.m., Joe Butt’s BBQ will offer up ribs straight from the smoker, along with steak, lamb and pulled pork sandwiches; barbecued chicken, smokehouse burgers, hot sausages and brats.

A beverage bar and grab-and-go snacks will be available from Cafe Marchand inside the museum.

Jessica Bella will play acoustic music from 6-8 p.m. The Indonesia-born singer, now based in the Pittsburgh area, rocks out on pop and jazz covers of music going back from the present to the 1980s.

When the sun sets, it will be time for an installment of Summer Movies at the Museum. The big outdoor screen will show “Best in Show,” a mockumentary taking a behind-the-scenes look at the cutthroat world of dog shows.

Written by Eugene Levy and Christopher Guest, the 2000 movie is rated PG-13.

Dogs on leashes are welcome to enjoy the movie with their owners, said Claire Ertl, the museum’s director of marketing and public relations.

Although the movie is free, advance registration is requested at 888-718-4253 or on the museum website.

The museum galleries will have special open hours from 5 p.m. until dusk. An art scavenger hunt, trivia workshop and photo booth related to the movie theme will be available.

Ertl noted that timed ticketing is in place for visits to the galleries from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday.

If the movie is canceled due to inclement weather, the information will be posted by mid-afternoon on the museum website and social media accounts. Registered guests will be alerted via email.

Other special events of the day will move inside, Ertl said.
