Westmoreland happenings: Yellow Tie Gala, history program, movie night, more
Fundraisers
• Latrobe Art Center will host its annual Yellow Tie Gala from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 23 in an open air dining room and dance floor on Ligonier Street in Latrobe. • Jeannette Knights of Columbus hosts bingo at 7 p.m. Fridays in Mersinger Hall at Ascension Church, 615 Division St., Jeannette. Doors open at 6 p.m. and early birds begin at 6:30 p.m. Players younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Smoke-free venue. Food will be available and there will be a 50-50 and instant bingos. • A rummage sale will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 17 at Fairview Church of God, 2202-2206 Route 982, Mt. Pleasant Township.
History
• Baltzer Meyer Historical Society will host a program about military life during the French and Indian War from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 18 at the center, 642 Baltzer Meyer Pike, Hempfield. Reenactors Bill and Lauren Koker will be the speakers. There will be tours, a demonstration of the vintage skill of twining and a basket raffle. Research is free during the month of August.
Meetings
• Rostraver Sportsmen and Conservation Association, 539 Cedar Creek Road, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 19. The club hosts trap shoots from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, and at 10 a.m. Thursdays and 11 a.m. Saturdays. Public welcome. Details: 724-984-6611 or rostraversportsmen@gmail.com.
Movie night
• Cook Township Community Center will host a free community movie night at dusk Aug. 16 at the center, 1714 Route 711. The featured film will be “Mrs. Doubtfire.” Admission and popcorn are free. A concession stand will be available.
Reunion
• The 66th annual Daniel K. and Annaliza S. Eutsey reunion will be Aug. 18 at Mt. Olive Evangelical Church pavilion, 515 Pleasant Valley Road, Bullskin. A potluck lunch will be at 1 p.m. Place settings and beverages will be provided, as well as crafts and a pinata for children, and cornhole games for all.
Special event
• Greensburg Salem School District will host a free back-to-school bash 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 16 at Offutt Field, 302 S. Urania Ave., Greensburg. There will be music, entertainment, food trucks, concessions, children’s activities and community resources. Wear your brown and gold to show your school spirit. Fall sports teams will be recognized and booster organizations will sell spirit wear.
