Church News
• St. James Church, New Alexandria, will screen season 4 of “The Chosen” at 6 p.m. Tuesdays in October at the church, 306 St. James Lane. A discussion will be after each episode. A pet blessing will be at 6 p.m. Oct. 4 at the church. Meet in the parking lot. Details: 724-668-2829, option 3.
• Greensburg Church of the Brethren will host a night of fun and fellowship for individuals and groups with developmental disabilities from 5 to 7 p.m. Mondays at the church, 554 Stanton St., Southwest Greensburg. Fundraisers
• Olive Branch Baptist Church, 296 Route 981, Rostraver, will host its monthly clothing sale from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Oct. 5 at the church. Donations of clean, used clothing in black plastic bags are welcome and can be placed on the porch at the rear of the building. Profits are used to help those in need.
• Bullskin Township Senior Center, 52 Medsger Road, will serve an all-you-can-eat breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Oct. 5 at the center. Baked goods will be sold. Menu: buckwheat and regular pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits with sausage gravy, ham, potatoes, coffee, tea and juice. Cost: $12; 7 to 11, $6; 6 and younger, free.
• Hope 4 Inc. will host an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast with a bake sale from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 5 at the center, Banco Business Park, 2000 Commerce Loop, suite 2200, North Huntingdon. Cost: $10; younger than 6, free. Proceeds will benefit local school lunch programs. Details: 724-382-4628.
• Trinity United Church of Christ, Greensburg, will have a fall craft and vendor show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 5 in the church hall, 139 N. Main St. There will be a bake sale and basket auction.
Halloween
• Shop Greensburg will host a Wicked Witches Gala from 4 to 8 p.m. Oct. 5 in downtown Greensburg. There will be a costume contest, witches hat contest, bazaar, food trucks, photo booth and the music of the Hi-Def Band. Details: shopgreensburgpa.com.

• Alcoholics Anonymous meets at 6 p.m. Wednesdays at Union Presbyterian Church, 656 Route 380, Washington Township.
• Independence Health System Center will sponsor a pregnancy and infant loss remembrance ceremony at 1 p.m. Oct. 5 in the healing garden around the back of Frick Hospital, 508 Church St., Mt. Pleasant. A butterfly bush will be planted and light refreshments will be served. Reservations required: independence.health/remembrance.

• Westmoreland County Community College and UPMC will offer a seminar series about building bone and joint heath from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 3, 10, 17 and 24 at the college’s Youngwood campus,.145 Pavilion Lane. Topics will include osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, nutrition, fall prevention and exercise. Cost: $10, includes all four sessions. Reservations required: westmoreland.edu/coned.
History
• The Westmoreland History Education Center will present “125 Years of Marketing the Presidency” with Steve Mihaly at 1 p.m. Oct. 5 at the center, 809 Forbes Trail Road, Hempfield. Cost: $8; Westmoreland Historical Society members, $5. Reservations required: 724-836-1800, ext. 210.
• Baltzer Meyer Historical Society will host a program about the cookies that grandmothers used to make with authors Scott and Kate Pavelle from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 5 at the center, 642 Baltzer Meyer Pike, Hempfield.

• Westmoreland Woodlands Improvement Association will sponsor a walk in Penn’s Woods from 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 6 at St. Xavier Nature Preserve, Route 30, Unity. Rain or shine. Look for the “Walk in Penn’s Woods” sign.
