Art

• Greensburg Art Center will host an exhibition, “From Hands and Hearts,” by featuring the works of Debbie King and Jeanne Siecinski beginning June 8 at the center, 230 Todd School Road, Hempfield. An opening reception will be from 2 to 4 p.m. June 8. Details: 724-837-6791.

Church News

• Greensburg Church of the Brethren hosts a night of fun and fellowship for individuals and groups with developmental disabilities from 5 to 7 p.m. Mondays at the church, 554 Stanton St. Dinner is included. Fundraisers

• West Newton Public Library will have a book and jewelry sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 8 at the library, 124 N. Water St. Fill two bags with books for $5. Rain date: June 15. Details: 724-633-0798.

• A strawberry festival will be from 4 to 7 p.m. June 7 at Christ Church, 100 Lincoln St., Youngwood. Sponsored by Youngwood Lions Club, proceeds will benefit Youngwood Library. Cost: $8; younger than 12, $4; includes strawberries with ice cream, cake and drink; hot dogs, $2. Tickets: from any Lion member and at the door.

• Community Church of Hecla, 537 Hecla Road, Mt. Pleasant Township, will host a turkey dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. June 8 at the church. Dine in or takeout. Details and takeout orders: 724-516-0494 or 724-466-2855.

• Lincoln Heights Civic Association will host a strawberry festival from noon to 4 p.m. June 9 at the center, 42 Millersdale Road, Jeannette. Details: 724-523-2608.

• A trash and treasure sale will be from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 8 at St. James Lutheran Church, 4329 Route 982, Youngstown. Menu: hamburgers, hot dogs, macaroni salad, haluski and baked goods.

• Herminie Center for Active Adults will have a flea market from 9 a.m. to noon June 7 at the center, 101 Sewickley Ave., rear. Details: 724-446-3282.

• Alcoholics Anonymous meets at 6 p.m. Wednesdays at Union Presbyterian Church, 656 Route 380, Washington Township.

Meetings

• The Braddock Trail chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will have the annual picnic at noon June 8 at the chapter house, 200 S. Church St., Mt. Pleasant. Bring a covered dish to share.

Senior Citizen News

• Herminie Center for Active Adults will have a free comedy program, “Dolly Parton Wild West Adventure,” at 1 p.m. at the center, 101 Sewickley Ave., rear. Details: 724-446-3282.

Special event

• Cook Township Community Center will host a summer kickoff party and movie night June 7 at the center, 1714 Route 711, Stahlstown. There will food, games and dancing. A free screening of the movie,” The Sandlot,” will be at dusk.
