Submissions from nonprofit organizations for Briefly Speaking can be emailed to cpinto-smith@triblive.com or mailed to Briefly Speaking, 210 Wood St., Tarentum, PA 15084. Include a complete address and daytime phone number. Submissions are due at least two weeks before the event. Each announcement is printed once; there is no fee.

Church news

• Open Door Baptist Church, 970 N. Main St., Greensburg, will have vacation Bible school, “Wonder World Fun Fest,” from 6:15 to 8:30 p.m. July 10 to 14 for children in kindergarten through sixth grade at the church. Registration: 724-837-0057 or opendoorgreensburg.com.

• A free children’s lunch program with activities is available from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at Otterbein United Methodist Church, 111 College Ave., Greensburg. Fundraisers

• E.C. Cruisers Car Club will host a car cruise from 5 to 9 p.m. July 2 at Bruster’s Real Ice Cream and Poulich Pit BBQ, Old Route 119 South, New Stanton. Rain or shine. Registration: $5 per vehicle. There will be dash plaques, a DJ and 50/50 raffle. Proceeds benefit the Children’s Miracle Network. Details: Ron Herrod, 724-610-1860.

• St. Barbara Parish, Harrison City, will host its monthly bingo at 6:45 p.m. July 6 at the church, 111 Raymaley Road. Doors open at 5. Paper packages start at $27. • West Newton Library is accepting donations of gently used paperback and hard back books, DVDs and audio CDs for the August Fill the Bag sale. Donations can be dropped off from noon to 5 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays, noon to 7 p.m. Wednesdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays at the library, 124 N. • Norwin Public Library, Caruthers Lane, Irwin, will offer a program about how to attract butterflies to a garden at 6 p.m. July 7 in the library community room. Meeting

• Greensburg Garden Center will meet at 6 p.m. July 5 in the Lefevre Butterfly Garden at the center, 951 Old Salem Road. Chuck Hayden, president of the Beekeeping Association, will discuss “One Year in the Life of a Beekeeper.”

Special event

• North Huntingdon Seniors is accepting reservations for a one-day trip July 14 to Amish country in Sugarcreek, Ohio. The bus will depart at 8 a.m. from St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 200 Leger Road, North Huntingdon, and return about 8 p.m. Stops will include shopping at Shrock’s Heritage Village; a show, “Josiah for President,” at Star Theater; and dinner.
