Church News
• Greensburg Church of the Brethren will host a night of fun and fellowship for individuals and groups with developmental disabilities from 5 to 7 p.m. Mondays at the church, 554 Stanton St. Dinner is included. Participants must be accompanied by a family member or caregiver. Donations will be accepted.
• Ss. Cyril and Methodius Orthodox Church, Jeannette, will host open door events from 2 to 4 p.m. Sept. 11, 18 and 25 at the church, 520 Scott Ave. The church will be open for quiet visits, prayer, lighting of candles and inquiries about the Temple and Orthodox faith. The rector, the Rev. Michael Senyo and parishioners will be available to answer questions.
• Derry First United Methodist Church, 311 N. Ligonier St., will have its monthly Ladies Lunch at noon Sept. 13 at the church. Public welcome.

• Penn State Extension will offer a workshop for sheep and goat producers, “Sheep and Goat Profit School,“ from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Sept. 23 at the extension office, 214 Donohoe Road, Hempfield. Fundraisers
• A rummage sale will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Union Presbyterian Church, 656 Route 380, Washington Township. Items other than jewelry, furniture and antiques will not be priced and will be available for a donation of the buyer’s choice. Food will be sold.
• A super bingo will be Friday at Marian Hall at St. Bartholomew Church, 2538 Route 119, Crabtree. Doors open at 5 p.m. and early birds begin at 6:30 p.m. Firehouse Subs will be available for takeout. Admission: $35, and additional packs will be available. Details: 724-834-0709.

• Philanthropic Educational Organization will have a rummage and bake sale from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Maplewood Presbyterian Church, 108 Woodland Road, Greensburg. Proceeds will benefit educational scholarships for women.
• St. Michael Orthodox Church, Greensburg, will sponsor a takeout We Remember Memorial Meal from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at the church, 1182 Ashland St. Menu: lamb shish kebab with green beans and rice, $20; gyro stand, $8; and frozen grape leaves, kibbee, spanakopita and pastitsio. A memorial service will begin a noon in the church. Those attending may share in reading the names of those who perished in the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. • St. James Church, New Alexandria will host its 10th annual car show and spaghetti dinner from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at the church, 306 St. James Lane. Rain or shine. Registration begins at 11 a.m. Donations will be accepted in lieu of a registration fee. Show cars should display the American flag in remembrance of Sept. 11. The first 100 cars will receive a T-shirt and dash plaque. Trophies will be awarded. Dinner will be served until 4 p.m. Cost: $10; 10 and younger, $5. • The 19th annual Green Luncheon hosted by the Westmoreland County Parks and Recreation Citizens Advisory Board will be Sept. 22 at pavilion 10 at Twin Lakes Peach Park, Georges Station Road, near Greensburg. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. and the awards ceremony will be at noon, rain or shine. Lunch will be served, and this year’s honorees will be introduced. A memorial service in remembrance of the 9/11 attacks will be at 10 a.m. Sunday in Vine Street Park in West Newton. A community worship service will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Bring a lawn chair. The community festival will begin at noon.
