Fundraisers

• A spring craft and vendor show will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 4 at St. John the Evangelist Church Hall, 306 St. John Drive, Latrobe. Homemade haluski, pierogi and meatball sandwiches and other lunch items will be sold. Free admission. The church is accessible and air conditioned. Details: 724-875-0742.

• Lutheran Church of Our Saviour, 1570 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, will have a spring rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 3 and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 4. Food will be sold. Proceeds will be used for the church Blessed Bundles outreach ministry.

• First Presbyterian Church will have its 53rd annual tag sale from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 3 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 4 in Laird Hall, 3202 N. Hills Road, Murrysville. Details: 724-327-0728.

• Calvin United Presbyterian Church, 311 Mulberry St., Scottdale, will host a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 2 and 9 a.m. to noon May 3 at the church.

• Tri-City Meals on Wheels of Greensburg will host a bingo fundraiser at 7 p.m. May 10 at West Point Volunteer Fire Company, 100 Volunteer Road, Hempfield. Doors open at 5 p.m. Cost: $25, includes a box lunch. There will be a basket raffle, strip tickets, mystery envelopes and a 50-50. Tickets: Jean, 724-691-7857 or stop from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. weekdays at the kitchen, 716 Foster St., Southwest Greensburg. The kitchen serves residents of Greensburg, South and Southwest Greensburg, the West Point and Fort Allen areas, Jeannette, Manor and Harrison City.

• The Greensburg Garden Center will host its May Mart plant sale from noon to 7 p.m. May 3 and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 4 at the center, 951 Old Salem Road. Visit greensburggardencenter.net for the plant list. There will be food trucks and a flea market. Details: 724-837-0245 or ggc951@live.com.

• Herminie Center for Active Adults, 101 Sewickley Ave., will have a craft and vendor show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 3 at the center. Table reservations available. Details: 724-446-3282.

• Independence Health System will offer wellness check diagnostic screenings by appointment from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. May 8 at The Square at Latrobe, 100 Excela Health Drive, Latrobe. Sponsored by Latrobe Rotary. No walk-ins will be accepted. Appointments and details: 877-771-1234.

Meetings

• The Botanical Society of Westmoreland County will have a business meeting at 6 p.m. May 1 at the Westmoreland Conservation District Pavilion, 218 Donohoe Road, Hempfield, weather permitting. The annual plant auction fundraiser will be afterward. Members are asked to bring their extra divided perennials, houseplants, tropical plants, herbs and vegetable seedlings to be sold. Potted plants must be in fresh commercial potting soil. Refrain from bringing invasive plants such as ajuga, myrtle and forsythia. Light refreshments will be served afterward. In case of inclement weather, the meeting will be in the WCD red barn.

Music

• The West Newton Community Singers will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. May 3 at West Newton United Presbyterian Church, 411 E. Main St. Cost: $7 in advance; $8 at the door; children, $5. Tickets: stop in at Maria’s Alterations or Gary’s Chuckwagon. Details: 724-872-6093.

Senior Citizen News
