Church news

• Ligonier Church of Christ will host a gospel meeting May 21 to 24 at the church, 347 Bunger St. The topic will be, “The Next Step: Growing in Spiritual Discipline.” Times are 9:30, 10:20 and 11:20 a.m. May 21 and 7 p.m. May 22 through 24. Details: Justin Gaber, 724-238-2144.

Fundraisers

• Lincoln Heights Civic Association will have bingo from 1 to 3 p.m. May 18 at the center, 42 Millersdale Road, Jeannette. There will be 20 regular games and five quickies. Cost: 25 cents for a three-card board; $1 for quickies. Payout is 50/50. Free coffee.

• Calvin United Presbyterian Church, Scottdale, will have its salad smorgasbord from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 19 at the church, 311 Mulberry St. Cost: $10, includes ham barbeque sandwiches, salads and beverages. For delivery to businesses, call 724-887-9880.

• A trash and treasure sale will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 19 and 20 at St. Matthew Church, 407 Constitution Ave., Hunker. Food, baked goods and drinks will be sold.

• Fairview Church of God will have a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 20 at the church, 2202-2206 Route 982, Mt. Pleasant Township. Lunch and baked goods will be available.

• Irwin Garden Club will have its plant sale from 9 a.m. to noon May 20 in the lower parking lost at Norwin Public Library, 100 Caruthers Lane Irwin. Rain or shine.

• Mon Valley Paws will sell Italian hoagies to benefit local animal charities from 10 a.m. until sold out May 20 at Bart’s BP, Grand Blvd., Monessen.

• A plant sale will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 20 at First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon, 501 Fayette St. There will be a variety of plants and baked goods available. Preorders will be accepted. Proceeds will benefit community outreach programs and mission projects. Details: 724-322-1384.

• United Methodist Women of First United Methodist Church, Greensburg, will have a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 20 in the church fellowship hall, 15 E. Second St. The youth of the church will have a bake sale to raise funds for summer camperships. Rummage sale proceeds will support United Methodist Women mission projects.

• Yukon SNPJ will host an indoor picnic from 2 to 6 p.m. May 21 at the Yukon Slovenian Hall, 137 Yukon Ave. Music will be by the Garett Tatano Band. Admission: $10. Food and refreshments will be sold. Proceeds will benefit the hall.

• A car cruise to benefit the Long Live Damian Bearley Foundation will be from noon to 5 p.m. May 21 at the Export Italian American Club, 5930 Kennedy Ave. Details: Mike, 724-519-7449.

• A fundraiser to benefit Mon Valley Paws will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. May 24 at River House Café, 506 McKean Ave., Charleroi. There will be a basket auction and 50/50 raffle. Bring a pet food donation and receive a free entry in the basket auction. Takeout orders: 724-565-5700.

• Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 331 Weldon St., Latrobe, is accepting registrations for its 22nd annual car hop set for noon to 5 p.m. June 4 in the church Main and Weldon streets parking lots. • West Newton Public Library is accepting donations for its June 10 book sale. Contributions of newer adult hardcover books, paperbacks, biographies, DVDs and children’s books are being accepted. • The Westmoreland Museum of American Art, Greensburg, will host its annual Artful Evening fundraiser at 6 p.m. June 10 at the museum, 221 N. Main St. Cost: $225, includes a reception and self-guided tours of wine and spirit stations followed by dinner in museum’ Cantilever Gallery. Valet parking available. • An American Red Cross Blood community blood drive will be from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Turkeytown Firehall, 90 Supervisors Drive, South Huntingdon. All who come to donate will be entered for a chance to win a four-night trip for two to the 2023 Major League Baseball All-Star game in Seattle. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are preferred. • Unity in the Community of Southwestern Pennsylvania will host a program on mental health and addiction recovery from 5 to 7 p.m. May 24 at the Greensburg Event Center, 1700 Washington St., South Greensburg. Come learn about the resources available to the community to improve mental health. Food will be available.

Library News

• West Newton Public Library will have its summer reading program from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesdays June 7, 14 and 21 at the West Newton Lions pavilion, 511 Pittsburgh St. Parents or guardians must accompany young children. Special events

• The eighth annual Sue Lau Memorial Labyrinth Walk will be at 1 p.m. May 20 at pavilion D at Hempfield Park, 220 Forbes Trail Road. All ages welcome. Bring your favorite dish to share at the potluck picnic afterward. Rain or shine.

• As part of the 250th anniversary of Westmoreland County, Freeport Theatre Festival will present a dramatization of the Hanna’s Town Resolves May 20 in the tavern at Historic Hanna’s Town, 809 Forbes Trail Road, Hempfield. The Hanna’s Town Resolves was one of the first documents to challenge British authority before the Declaration of Independence. Performances will be at noon and 2 p.m. Tickets: free with general admission to the park. Cost: $10; $6 for students; free for Westmoreland Historical Society members, active members of the military and children 5 and younger, and include a guided tour, the exhibit gallery and use of the library.

• A free electronic waste recycling event for residents of West Newton will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or when the container is full May 19 in the parking of West Newton Public Library, 124 N. Water St. First come, first served. Details: 724-972-3779.
