Fundraisers

• Community Church of Hecla, 537 Hecla Road, Mt. Pleasant Township, will host a turkey dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 12 at the church. Dine in or takeout. Details and takeout orders: 724-516-0494 or 724-466-2855.

• First United Church of Christ, Irwin, will have an Oktoberfest dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 17 at the church, 400 Main St. Menu: kielbasa, pork, hot dogs, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, applesauce and dessert. Cost: $12; children, $6. Advance tickets recommended. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door. Tickets: 724-863-0430.

• Bullskin Township Senior Center will serve beef tips and noodle dinners from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 11 at the center, 52 Medsger Road, Connellsville. Menu: beef tips over noodles with gravy, vegetable, roll and dessert. Drinks will be sold. Cost: $12; 10 and younger, $5. Dine in or takeout. Orders: 724-887-0655.

• Jeannette Knights of Columbus hosts bingo at 7 p.m. Fridays in Mersinger Hall at Ascension Church, 615 Division St., Jeannette. Doors open at 6 p.m. and early birds begin at 6:30 p.m. Players younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Smoke-free venue. Food will be available and there will be a 50-50 and instant bingos. • The Westmoreland County Historical Society will host the annual Arthur St. Clair Historic Preservation Awards at 6 p.m. Oct. 16 at Rizzo’s Banquet Hall, 126 Rizzo Road, Crabtree. Honorees will include Frank Cassell, Debra Coulson and Harley Trice, the Rostraver Historical Society and West Overton Village and Museum. Cost: $85. • Holy Family Church, 225 N. Second St., West Newton, will have a bake sale and soup sale featuring 12 different soups and chilis from 5 to 6 p.m. Oct. 12 and noon to 1 p.m. Oct. 13 at the church.

• A spaghetti dinner will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Oct. 12 at Rehoboth Presbyterian Church, 442 Rehoboth Road, Belle Vernon. Menu: spaghetti with meat or marinara sauce, salad, bread and butter, cake and a drink. Cost: large, $10; small, $6; meatballs, $1. Gluten sensitive pasta and cake will be available and baked goods will be sold. Dine in or take-out. The facility is wheelchair accessible.

• Community Revitalization of West Newton will host its third annual fall fun day and pumpkin roll at 2 p.m. on Cort Street. There will be pumpkins, scarecrows and treats. Details: crown15089@yahoo.com.

• Westmoreland Woodlands Improvement Association will sponsor its annual potluck dinner and talk Oct. 17 in the Westmoreland Conservation District Barn, 218 Donohoe Road, Greensburg. A social will be at 5:30 p.m. and the dinner will be at 6 p.m. A main course, potato side and mixed greens will be provided. Bring a side dish or dessert to share. A business meeting will be from 7 to 7:15 p.m. Speaker Melissa M. Kreye will discuss “Forest Owner Views About Emerging Markets in Pennsylvania: Forest Carbon Offsets and Prescribed Fire.” Cost: $10; association members, free. • Historic Hanna’s Town will host its last antiques and collectibles sale of the season at 809 Forbes Trail Road, Hempfield. Some vendors will be set up by 1 p.m. Oct. 12 and the rest will be open from 7:30 a.m. until early afternoon Oct. 13. Admission: $5 per car. Halloween events

• Christian Life Church, 900 Seventh St. Ext., Trafford, will sponsor a trunk-or-treat from 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 19 at the church. There will be games, hayrides, free concessions, crafts and more. Health

Meetings

• The Braddock Trail chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet Oct. 12 at the chapter house, 200 S. Church St., Mt. Pleasant. Lunch will be at noon and the meeting will be at 1 p.m. The program will be about H. C. Frick. Donations will be accepted for the food bank.

• Golden Dome Knitting Guild will meet at 7 p.m. Oct. 17 at Trinity United Church of Christ, 139 N. Main St., Greensburg. The program will be a show-and-tell of current projects, finished and in-progress and there a variety of free knitting patterns with a fall theme available to take home. Bring items that have been completed for the Feeding the Spirit, the Delmont Pilgrimage and chemo caps. Guests and new members welcome. Details: Lorraine, 724-836-6323.

• The Southwestern Pennsylvania Synod, Districts 3 and 4 of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America will have their fall meeting Oct. 19 at Zion Lutheran Church, 140 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Greensburg. Check-in will be at 8:45 a.m. and a worship service will be afterward. Speaker Natalie Reese of Westmoreland Cleanways and Recycling will talk about how to dispose and recycle items that pile up in our homes. Lunch will be at noon. Lunch fee: $10. Donations will be accepted for the WELCA Southwestern Pa./WelCA Churchwide and the 2024 designated outreach St. Peter Lutheran Church afterschool program. Reservations required.
