Submissions from nonprofit organizations for Briefly Speaking can be emailed to Carol Pinto-Smith at cpinto-smith@triblive.com or mailed to Briefly Speaking, 210 Wood St., Tarentum, PA 15084. Include a complete address and daytime phone number. Submissions are due at least two weeks before the event. Each announcement is printed once; there is no fee.

Church news

• Greensburg Church of the Brethren will host a night of fun and fellowship for individuals and groups with developmental disabilities from 5 to 7 p.m. Mondays at the church, 554 Stanton St. Dinner is included. Participants must be accompanied by a family member or caregiver. Donations will be accepted.

Fundraisers

• Ligonier Valley Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a musical bingo from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 4 at the Ligonier Veterans of Foreign Wars, 749 E. Main St. Admission: $5. There will be prizes and a 50-50 raffle. Reservations: 724-238-2296.

• Lincoln Heights Civic Association will have bingo from 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 4 and 18 at the center, 42 Millers­dale Road, Jeannette. There will be 20 regular games and five quickies. Cost: 25 cents for a three-card board; $1 for quickies. Payout is 50-50. Free coffee.

• EC Cruisers Car Club will host a car cruise from 5 to 9 p.m. Aug. 5 at the Bovard Volunteer Fire Department Burger Bash event, 2 Washington St. Rain or shine. Registration: $5 per vehicle. There will be dash plaques, a DJ, bake sale and ticket auction. A portion of proceeds benefits the fire department. Details: Chuck Cravatta, irocccco@aol.com.

• A super bingo will be Aug. 5 at Marian Hall at St. Bartholomew Church, 2538 Route 119, Crabtree. Doors open at 5 p.m., and early birds begin at 6:30 p.m. Firehouse Subs will be available for takeout. Admission: $35 and additional packs will be available. Details: 724-834-0709.

• St. Cecilia Church will have a burger bash from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 20 at the church pavilion, 220 St. Cecilia Road, Whitney, Unity Township. Menu: hamburgers with or without cheese, fries and soft drinks. Dine in or takeout. Details: 724-423-3777.

• Community Church of Hecla, 537 Hecla Road, Mt. Pleasant Township, will host a Vera Bradley bingo at 2 p.m. Aug. 7 at the church. Doors open at 1 p.m., and a light lunch will be available. Admission: $15. Details: 724-396-8065 or 724-244-2586.

• A basket bingo party will be Aug. 6 at the Jeannette Masons, 301 S. Fourth St. Doors open at 11 a.m., and lunch will be served at noon. Cost: $10, includes lunch, bingo card, one raffle ticket and door prizes. Proceeds will benefit Amaranth Diabetes Research.

Health

• Alcoholics Anonymous meets at 6 p.m. Wednesdays at Union Presbyterian Church, 656 Route 380, Washington Township.

Meetings

• Kennametal Retirees Local 1059 will meet at 1 p.m. Aug. 5 at the Latrobe Senior Citizens Center, 15 Avenue C, Latrobe. All members welcome.

Music

• The Jeannette Business Association and Elliott Group will sponsor a concert from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Aug.4 in the Elliott Group Amphitheater. The featured group will be Front Page. Bring a lawn chair. Food trucks and a beer garden will be in the 400 and 500 blocks of Clay Avenue and South Fifth Street. Rain or shine. No pets, skateboards or bicycles permitted.

Reunion

• Greensburg Central Catholic High School Class of 1972 will have a reunion Sept. 24 at Greensburg Country Club. Class members who did not receive an invitation by email should contact gccclassof1972@gmail.com.

Special events

• The August Fun Fest will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 7 at Cedar Creek Park, 453 Evergreen Drive, Rostraver. Chuck Blasko and the Vogues will perform at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the amphitheater, and local bands will perform at noon and 2, 3, 4 and 5 p.m. in pavilion 1. Bring a lawn chair. There will be a car cruise, bingo, a flea market and a model railroad display by the Mid-Mon Valley Model Railroad Club. Cost: $4 for an all-day activity pass, includes unlimited admission to the inflatables, bounce houses, obstacle courses, rock climbing wall, petting zoo, kiddie train rides, Nerf battlefield course and more. Sponsored by the Westmoreland County Bureau of Parks and Recreation, Somerset Trust Co. and Road Kings Car Club.

• State Rep. Bob Brooks will host a drive-thru veterans appreciation luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 12 in the parking lot of Cornerstone Ministries, 2200 Cornerstone Lane, Murrysville. Veterans and a guest will receive a boxed lunch. Reservations required by Aug. 8. Reservations: 724-335-2790.
