• West Newton Public Library, 124 N. Water St., is accepting donations of gently used adult hardcover and paperback books, children’s books, DVDs and audio tapes. Hours: noon to 5 p.m., Mondays and Thursdays; noon to 7 p.m. Wednesdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. Details: 724-633-0798.
• Friends of Norwin Public Library will hold a $5 Buy the Bag book sale June 25 to 29 at the library, 100 Caruthers Lane, Irwin. Hours: Friends of the Library members preview sale, 4 to 7:30 p.m. June 25; regular sale, 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. June 26 and 27; and 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 28 and 29.

• Baltzer Meyer Historical Society will present a program about the Darr Mine disaster at Van Meter, Rostraver, from 1 to 3 p.m. June 22 at the society, 642 Baltzer Meyer Pike, Hempfield. John Hepple will discuss the Dec. 19, 1907, tragedy that killed 239 men and boys.
