Meetings

• The Board of Trustees at Torrance State Hospital will have an open meeting at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 22 in the CEO conference room, first floor, Greizman Building, Route 1014, Derry Township. Details: 724-459-4411.

Senior Citizen News

• Herminie Center for Active Adults will serve breakfast from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Aug. 20 at the center, 101 Sewickley Ave., rear, Herminie. Cost: $5, includes a drink. National Senior Citizen Day will be observed Aug. 21 with a picnic lunch, games and activities. Lunch cost: $2. Details: 724-446-3282.

• Irwin Senior Activity Center, 310 Oak St., will host an open house from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Aug. 21 to mark National Senior Citizen Day. A catered lunch will be served until 1 p.m. or until the food runs out. Details: 724-787-1760.

Veterans News

• A veterans service officer will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 21 in the office of state Rep. Jill Cooper, 105 Pfeffer Road, suite 5, Washington Township. Services available will include disability and pension claims, benefit questions, assisting spouses with survivor benefits issues and applications for veterans grants. Appointments will be accepted, but walk-ins are welcome. Appointments: 724-387-9113.
