• First Church of God, West Newton, will have vacation Bible school from 6:15 to 8:30 p.m. June 13 to 17 at the church, 157 N. Second St. Registration and questions: 724-872-7467

Class

• Laurelville Christian Retreat Center, 941 Laurelville Lane, Mt. Pleasant Township, will host outdoor Sunset Yoga with Find Your Fire Fitness at 7:30 p.m. June 11 atop Laurelville’s Sunset Hill. Bring a mat. In case of rain, the event will be in the Shenandoah gymnasium. Cost: $15. Tickets: visit the community event section of Laurelville.org or the Laurelville Facebook page.

Fundraisers

• Youngwood Lions Club will host a strawberry festival to benefit the Youngwood Library from 4 to 7 p.m. June 4 at Christ United Methodist Church, 100 Lincoln St., Youngwood. Menu: strawberries with ice cream, cake and drink, $7; younger than 12, $3. Tickets available from any Lions member or at the door.

• Community Church of Hecla, 537 Hecla Road, Mt. Pleasant Township, will host a dessert/cash bingo at 2 p.m. June 6 at the church. Doors open at 1 p.m. A light lunch will be served. Details: 724-396-8065 or 724-244-2586

• Mt. Pleasant Veterans of Foreign Wars will sponsor a Pennsylvania Hero Walk at 10 a.m. June 5. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. at the post, 219 S. Diamond St., and the walk will proceed to the Veterans Park for a brief ceremony. Rain or shine. Public welcome.

• A food truck festival to benefit Mon Valley Paws will be from noon to 5 p.m. June 5 at the city park walking track, Monesson. Trucks participating include StrEat Catering, Sunny’s, Revival Chili, Truckin’ Triangles and Procaffeination.

• Heritage United Methodist Church, Ligonier, will host a sandwich and salad luncheon during Antiques on the Diamond from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 5 at the church, 107 W. Main St. Menu: pulled pork or chicken salad sandwich, pasta salad, pretzel salad, nut rolls and pies. Dine in or takeout. Proceeds will benefit local and global missions.

• Lincoln Heights Civic Association will host bingo from 1 to 3 p.m. June 3 and 17 at the center, 42 Millersdale Road, Jeannette. There will be 20 regular games. Cost is 25 cents for a three-card bingo board. Payout is 50/50. Free coffee.

• Fairview Church of God will have a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to noon Fridays through the end of October at the church, 2202-2206 Route 982, Mt. Pleasant Township.

Library news

• Greensburg Hempfield Area Library will host a visit with the Pittsburgh Zoo’s Zoomobile from 2 to 3 p.m. June 10 at St. Clair Park, Greensburg. Advance registration required. Registration: ghal.org

• Norwin Library is not accepting book donations until after its October books sale. Residents of Irwin and North Huntingdon are welcome to donate books to West Newton Library, 124 N. Water St. Hours: noon to 5 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays, noon to 7 p.m. Wednesdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. Please no cookbooks, textbooks or encyclopedias.

Meetings

Local chapters of the Women’s Business Network have scheduled meetings. Those attending can learn how the group supports the success and growth of women in business. Professional women are welcome and can attend as a guest at no cost. Some meetings will be held online. Call the chapter representative for more information.

Music

Ligonier Valley Chamber of Commerce will host free concerts at 7 p.m. Sundays through Aug. 22 in the gazebo at the Diamond. The featured group June 6 will be the Jeannette Community Band. In case of inclement weather, an announcement will be made by 5 p.m. to move the concert into Town Hall or canceled. Check Visit Ligonier on Facebook.
