Submissions from nonprofit organizations for Briefly Speaking can be emailed to cpinto-smith@triblive.com or mailed to Briefly Speaking, 210 Wood St., Tarentum, PA 15084. Include a complete address and daytime phone number. Submissions are due at least two weeks before the event. Each announcement is printed once; there is no fee.


Fundraisers

• Lincoln Heights Civic Association will have bingo from 1 to 3 p.m. July 21 at the center, 42 Millersdale Road, Jeannette. There will be 20 regular games and five quickies. Cost: 25 cents for a three-card board and $1 for quickies. Payout is 50/50. Free coffee.

• A flea market will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 22 at Herminie Center for Active Adults, 101 Sewickley Ave., in the firehall. Free admission. Tables are available for $5 each. Table reservations and details: 724-446-3282.

• A Dog Days of Summer hot dog sale will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 23 at St. John St. John United Church of Christ, 1230 Brownstown Road, Larimer. Menu: hot dog with chips and drink, $6; hot dog only, $3. Details: Lil, 724-493-8982.

• Greensburg YMCA will have a yard sale July 23 in the center’s gymnasium, 101 S. Maple Ave., as part of downtown Greensburg’s Summer in the City Celebration. Hours: early bird sale with $2 admission fee, 8 to 9 a.m.; and community yard sale with free admission, 9 to 2 p.m. There will be free children’s activities from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and concessions and food will be available.

• St. Pius X Parish, Mt. Pleasant, will have its annual festival from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. July 24 at the church, 740 W. Walnut St. There will be food including the famous parish pizza, games of chance, raffles, bingo, basket auction, children’s games and more. Entertainment will be by DJ Big Basel Productions from noon to 4 p.m. and Back in Time from 5 to 9 p.m.

Health

• Laurelville Retreat Center, 941 Laurelville Lane, Mt. Pleasant Township, will offer pool Zumba aquatic exercise classes at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 13 and 27 at the center’s outdoor heated pool. Cost: $10 each. Reservations required. Reservations: tinyurl.com/AugpoolZumba.

Meeting

• Penn Township Senior Citizens will meet July 26 at Community United Methodist Church, 3487 Route 130, Harrison City. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 2. Lunch: $6. Dues: $2. Entertainment will be provided by The Drewsmen. Masks optional.

Music

• The Jeannette Business Association and Elliott Group will sponsor a concert from 6 to 8:30 p.m. July 21 in the Elliott Group Amphitheater. The featured group will be Twisted Fate. Bring a lawn chair. Food trucks and a beer garden will be on the 400 and 500 blocks of Clay Avenue and South Fifth Street. Rain or shine. No pets, skateboards or bicycles permitted.

Reunions

• Former employees of Latrobe Area Hospital will have a reunion picnic at 1 p.m. Aug. 18 at the Slovak Picnic grounds, 1210 Industrial Blvd., Latrobe. Cost: $5, plus a covered dish to share or gift basket for the raffle. Visit Former LAH Employees & Retirees on Facebook to post what you will bring.

• The 86th Keslar Family reunion will be at 1 p.m. Aug. 14 at Mt. Joy Church of the Brethren pavilion, 494 E. Main St., Mt. Pleasant Township. A covered dish luncheon will be at 1 p.m. followed by the business meeting, games, bingo and an ice cream social. Bring a covered dish and bingo prize.

Special event

• Rep. Bob Brooks will host a free shredding event from 9 to 11 a.m. July 30 at Franklin Regional High School, 3200 School Road, Murrysville. Residents may bring as many as five boxes of documents to be shredded. No businesses please. Details: 724-335-2790.
