Westmoreland happenings: Easter services, kindergarten registration, meetings, more
Church News
• Living Word Congregational Church, 2003 Ridge Road, Jeannette, will have Holy Week prayer services at 7 p.m. March 25 through March 29. A celebration of the Resurrection of the Lord will be at 11 a.m. March 31.
• Emmanuel Reformed United Church of Christ, 3618 Hills Church Road, Export, will have an Easter sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. March 31. A free hot breakfast will be served afterward. Details: 724-327-3050.
• Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1120 Harvey Ave., Greensburg, will have the following services: 7 p.m. March 28, Maundy Thursday service with Communion; 7 p.m., March 29, Good Friday remembrance service; 6:45 a.m. March 31, Easter Sunrise service outside in the pavilion; and 9:30 a.m. March 31, Easter Sunday service. • Union Presbyterian Church, 656 Route 380, Washington Township, will have a Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. March 28. An early Easter service will be at 8:30 a.m. March 31, and a light breakfast will be served afterward. The regular Easter worship service will be at 11 a.m. Children’s Sunday School will be available during the 11 a.m. service.
• Transfiguration of Our Lord Church, 353 Bridgeport Road, Mt. Pleasant, will have Holy Thursday Mass at 6:30 p.m. March 28. A Good Friday service with Stations of the Cross will be at noon March 29. Blessing of food baskets will be afterward. Easter Sunday Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. March 31.
Meetings
• Mt. Pleasant American Legion Auxiliary will meet at 6 p.m. April 2 at the post, 752 W. Main St. Food can be ordered from the post menu. The committee will serve a light dessert.
• Westmoreland Area Nurses Association will meet at 4 p.m. April 1 at Hoss’s Steak & Sea House, South Greensburg. Details: Cordie at 412-841-8529.
School News
• Registration and screening for students who will enter kindergarten in the fall at Laurel Valley Elementary School in the Ligonier Valley School District will be by appointment from 8:30 to 10:45 a.m. and 12:30 to 2:45 p.m. April 8 and 9 at the school. Children must be 5 by the first day of the school year and must attend the screening. Required documents include a state birth certificate, immunization records, proof of residency and custody/guardianship papers if applicable. Appointments: 724-235-2723.
