Church News
• Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1120 Harvey Ave., Greensburg, will host a fall Bible study series from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 23, Oct. 21, Nov. 18 and Dec. 18 at the church. The Sept. 23 class will be an introduction to the Bible. Other sessions will be about the books of Genesis, Exodus and Deuteronomy. Details: the Rev. Fundraisers
• A murder mystery dinner theater fundraiser to benefit Stray Cat Sanctuary will be Oct. 20 at the Lamplighter Restaurant, 6566 William Penn Highway, Salem. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. and the show dinner will be at 5 p.m. Cost: $55, includes dinner, gratuity and nonalcoholic beverages. There will be raffles, merchandise and a 50-50. • An Elvis dinner show fundraiser will be Oct. 4 at the Jeannette Center for Active Adults, 211 Gaskill Ave. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and dinner will be at 5 p.m. Menu: stuffed chicken breast, green beans, baked potato, dessert and drink. • Lincoln Heights Civic Association will have bingo from 1 to 3 p.m. Sept. 19 at the center, 42 Millersdale Road, Hempfield. There will be 20 regular games and five quickies. Payout is 50/50. Free coffee. Cost: 25 cents for a three-card board; $1 for quickies.
Meeting
• Greensburg College Club will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 19 at the Greensburg Garden and Civic Center, 951 Old Salem Road,. Speakers Wendy Jorgensen and JoAnne Finoli from the Pennsylvania/German Preapprenticeship Program will be the guest speakers. Public welcome.
• Golden Dome Knitting Guild will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 19 at Trinity United Church of Christ, 139 N. Main St., Greensburg. The program will be a question-and-answer and problem-solving session. Guests and new members welcome. Details: Lorraine, 724-836-6323.

• Hempfield High School Class of 1974 will have a reunion Oct. 5 at Ferrante’s Lakeview, 6153 Route 30, Hempfield. Classmates who have not received an invitation should email deborahannmilito@aol.com.
Senior Citizen News
• Herminie Center for Active Adults, 101 Sewickley Ave., rear, will host an open house Sept. 20. There will be vendors from 9 a.m. to noon, a DJ from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., lunch at noon and dancers at 1 p.m. The theme will be the 50’s and 60’s. Dress as a greaser or pink lady. Details: 724-446-3282.
Special event
• A youth flag football tournament to raise awareness for teen homelessness will begin at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 21 at Laurelville Retreat Center, 941 Laurelville Lane, Mt. Pleasant Township. Players will compete in two divisions, 12 to 15 years old and 16 to 20 years old. Each team will have five to 10 players. Sponsored by Westmoreland Community Action and the retreat center. Veterans News
• A veterans service officer will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 21 in the office of state Rep. Jill Cooper, 105 Pfeffer Road, suite 5, Washington Township. Services available will include disability and pension claims, benefit questions, assisting spouses with survivor benefits issues and applications for veterans grants. Appointments will be accepted, but walk-ins are welcome. Appointments: 724-387-9113.
